Social Entrepreneur from Uganda Wins Prestigious Global Fellowship
NAIROBI, KENYA- Eric Glustrom of Kampala, Uganda has been selected by Ashoka: Innovators for the Public as a member of its global fellowship of leading social entrepreneurs.
Eric Glustrom is being recognized by Ashoka for his entrepreneurial leadership skills. Eric is transforming education systems worldwide to develop the next generation of leaders to solve the toughest challenges facing the world. Beginning in Uganda, Eric’s organization, Educate! Provides long-term mentorship and a world-class leadership and entrepreneurship curriculum to help high school students start enterprises and initiatives that solve poverty, disease, violence and environmental degradation.
Salim Mohamed, Ashoka’s Representative for East Africa, said, “We are very encouraged by Eric Glustrom`s innovative model and we believe that this idea, in Eric’s hands, is really going to spread throughout East Africa and globally. I think this is particularly encouraging as this new idea encourages the young generation to be interested in Social entrepreneurship and being socially responsible.”
Eric Glustrom now joins 50 other Fellows from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda elected since 2001 and more than 2,700 Ashoka Fellows globally.
Ashoka is the world's leading network of social entrepreneurs – extraordinary changemakers, who find new solutions to social problems; like Muhammad Yunus, who pioneered the microfinance sector.
